The map is a connected graph where nodes represent major points of interest or major intersections in the San Francisco Bay Area, and edges generally represent the most direct connection by road or trail between the nodes. Nodes have a name and an altitude (in feet). Edges have a distance (in miles) and a gross climbing (in feet) in each direction of travel. This "map" or graph is intended to be used in conjunction with a normal street or trail map so that the proper road or trail can be found. This graph can be used to construct routes such that the distance and the gross climbing can be calculated.
